2007 American Chemistry Week

DATES

October 26-27, 2007

LOCATION

Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh, PA

Background

The Appalachian Region participates in this event because our participation in a similar event (Engineer’s Week) has been so successful that other groups want us. Of course, another reason is it gives OSM the opportunity to do out-reach and to make a difference. Employees of the AR work with hundreds of school-age kids, educators and parents during this event. Their goal is to foster public awareness of coal mining, its potential impacts and OSM’s efforts to assure environmental protection. We have a lot of fun, the kids visiting the booth are great and you get to spend time at the science center!
