Mined Land Reforestation Conference

Description
This event is being hosted by Virginia Tech’s Powell River Project and by Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, and sponsored by ARRI. The conference will call attention to advanced mine reforestation practices being developed through scientific research, highlight advanced mine reforestation practices that are being adopted by the coal industry, and present scientific research findings with the potential to further improve mine reforestation success.

Topics Covered
Conference activities will include presentations by scientific, industry, and agency personnel who are involved with the development and application of coal mine reforestation practices, and a field tour of research sites and operating mines where advanced mine reforestation practices are being developed and utilized.

Target Audience
The intended audience will be personnel representing mining firms, owners of mineral-bearing lands, mining industry consultants, natural resource agencies, scientists and researchers with mine reforestation expertise, students, and other interested members of the public.
