Description
The USFWS plans to publish a revised Indiana Bat Recovery Plan. The revised recovery plan has the potential to impact coal mining and reclamation operations in the States of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The goal of the Recovery Plan Workshop is to bring together representatives of the coal mining related constituencies that will be potentially impacted by the revised Indiana Bat Recovery Plan. Each interest group will be provided with the most current information and interaction opportunities so they can develop informed comments and recommendations to the US Fish & Wildlife Service during the 90 day comment period for the proposed revised recovery plan.
Topics Covered
Update of Indiana Bat population trends, mining industry trends, recovery plan, and regulatory experience. Interest group breakout sessions; Interactive development of recommendations to Fish and Wildlife Service.
Target Audience
Representatives of State Regulatory Authorities, OSM, State Wildlife Agencies, USFWS, and University experts concerned with protection of the Indiana bat associated with coal mining.
